This is a pale tan Haviland Chocolate Pot with an 1888 to 1896 backstamp. The chocolate pot is a pale yelloy tan with a soft and rather dreamy floral design with hand painted details. The design is different on the front and back and the entire piece may well be hand painted. The pitcher has the ribbon shaped handle which is shown and comes with the matching lid.
The chocolate pot measures 5.75 inches wide across the bottom and it is 3.25 inches across the top rim. The pot is 8.75 inches tall to the rim and 10 1/8 inches tall to the top of the handle.
I have included a lot of pictures of the floral design and details and honestly, the left side is by far the prettiest. The floral design is done in white and pale green with some pale peach and combined with the lovely shaping-it is just outstanding. The pot is trimmed in gold with a draped bottom rim and it is marked as shown.
There are no chips, cracks, crazing, or other damage. The lid has a small lip on one side which may have once been a tab to hold it in place, but the edge is smooth-so I’m not sure if the tab is broken off or if it’s supposed to be like this.
