Oval shaped with … Read more This is a beautiful Antique Victorian French Locket made in the last half of the 19th century. Oval shaped with an onyx back and front with an anchor that has a heart in the middle. It is gold filled - Gold-filled material is made by bonding a layer of gold alloy to a base metal core.

Possibly once was a held a photo of a husband or beloved who had gone to sea, possibly even a mourning locket.

If you choose, you could display a photo, a small locket of hair, or something special to be worn close to your heart. It would have been hung on a golden chain, or a simple black grosgrain ribbon. It has a nice weight to it. The hinge and catch work well on the locket. This Victorian locket would make a wonderful gift got the holidays, or a special birthday.

It is an antique and has obviously been worn and loved. There are minor scratches to the surface of the onyx and the frame around the glass has one slight wonky area.
