This … Read more This is an engaging abstract acrylic artwork created by the well known Ecuadorian artist Eduardo Maldonado, in about 1975. This is a multiple of 100 specimen. The title is Modular Structure. Following his research relating to plastic reliefs, Maldonado has introduced the problem of color-light relationship. By means of a previous manual operation the acrylic glass obtains a white opacity. Then the artist intervenes on the surface with almost aerial superimposition of a modular structure, leaving between the two planes a seeming vacuum which is actually filled by the fluctuaction of light. In effect, it is light-color: the color of the "invisible" part of the structure which reverberates, almost electrically, its diffused light onto the underlying surface. Time and space identify themselves in this case, achieving a sense of the fourth dimension. Estuardo Maldonado was born in Pintag, Ecuador in 1930. He studied at the Fine Arts Academy of Guadaquil. Following graduation in 1957, he obtein a Government travel and study grant fron Ecuador after which he traveled in Europe. He remained in Italy and attended the Rome Fine Arts Academy. In 1966 was named by the Ecuador Government Commissioner for its pavillion at the 33th Venice Biennale where he also partecipated as exhibitor. in 1967 the Ecuador Cultural Center officially delegated him to extend the invitations for the First Latin American Biennale of Quito, 1968. His artworks are present in many Museums and public collections all over the world This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
