Here, the set includes 8 individually styled chairs, each with its own unique character. Crafted from fine solid Italian walnut, this version features a refined whitewashed Gustavian finish. The effect is achieved using a wood stain wash that evens the tone of the grain, followed by hand-applied shellac using the traditional French polish technique, resulting in a smooth, glossy surface with a warm glow. Each chair comes with a boxed seat constructed for comfort, combining a supportive T35 foam base with a softer upper layer. The seats are upholstered in a high-quality bouclè fabric from Alessandro Bini and finished with elegant piping, beautifully complementing the distinctive woodwork. Ideal for a bright, airy interior or a coastal residence, this set adds character without overpowering the space. It’s a rare and personal collection — perfect for those who appreciate individuality in design. with no two chairs alike, each seat brings its own charm to the room. Listed measure is the first one on the left of the upper row. For each measure please inquiry or look on the individual chair listing. Biedermeier continues to gain recognition for its early contribution to modern furniture design. It marked a shift toward comfort through gentle curves and built-in lumbar support, rather than relying solely on heavy upholstery. Compared to earlier styles like Louis XVI or Empire, these forms feel more contemporary and relaxed. Interestingly, Biedermeier was the first furniture style not named after royalty — a quiet statement that reflected its origins outside the aristocratic world. The name itself suggested a break from courtly traditions, as if these chairs belonged not to kings, but to "Mr. So-and-So" — an everyman figure representing the new, affluent middle class. This style emerged from private homes rather than royal palaces, capturing a spirit of individuality and progress. That sense of forward-looking design is exactly what makes Biedermeier so relevant to today's interiors — refined, functional, and full of personality.
