Mogens Balle, born Mogens Erik Schack Balle in Copenhagen in 1921, was a painter and writer. Originally studying architecture, he switched to visual arts, starting with naturalistic works before moving to abstract painting in 1945. His art often featured mythical and fantasy creatures. In 1946, he went to Paris and connected with artists working spontaneously. He co-founded the Danish artist union Spirals in 1947 and met the CoBrA group through Asger Jorn in 1949. His work was exhibited in Paris but not in CoBrA’s main shows. After CoBrA dissolved, his style became more spontaneous and abstract. In the 1950s, he created word paintings (peinture-mots) with Christian Dotremont, blending words and images. In the 1960s, he started making bronze fantasy figures. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
