Antique Japanese Bronze Urn, twin handled vase, Patinated Cast bronze, deep dark brown, 4.3KG
A finely cast Japanese Meiji-period bronze urn (c.1868–1912), notable for its six-lobed body with high-relief panels depicting birds among flowering branches, a classical seasonal motif symbolising harmony and renewal.
The urn rests on three zoomorphic legs rising from a lotus-inspired base, while the twin handles take the form of mythical dragon heads, extending outward in dramatic scrolls. The neck is finished with a stylised lappet and wave border, recalling the Meiji revival of classical Japanese bronze design.
Unsigned, as is typical of many high-quality decorative bronzes of the period, but finely detailed with a rich, even patina. This piece is designed in the style of the selected designer and/or manufacturer
