Traditionally flatwoven and dyed in shades of rustic red and ivory. The centerpiece is adorned with a large, geometric medallion that extends from top to bottom.

Zanjan or Zanjan Hamadan rugs are a type of traditional Persian rug originating from the city of Zanjan, located in northwest Iran, near the Hamadan region. The city is an important stop on the Iranian Silk Road. It is also a place where high-quality Persian rugs are made. All are entirely handmade by nomadic tribes. Zanjan rugs often feature geometric patterns, with motifs such as rhombuses, polygons, and stylized floral motifs. Typical colors include reds, navy blues, blues, and beiges. Strong, saturated hues are often used. These rugs are typically made of high-quality wool with a cotton warp. The wool can be quite thick, making the rug durable and long-lasting.
