This magnificent antique Lavar Kerman carpet is a stunning achievement of craftsmanship and design from around the second half of the 19th century. The rug was expertly woven in the southeastern and draws heavily from nature for inspiration and influence in its Traditional Design. At the heart of the rug lies a stylized medallion composed of cypress trees, paisleys and various flowers in the field. The surrounding body is filled to capacity with cypress motifs, paisley designs and a host of branching flora. Unusually over-sized bridging cornices at either end press into the central field. A broad multi-band border contains a multiplicity of repeating patterned designs of cypress trees, scroll work, laurel leaves, paisleys, daisies and various other floras.
