Grise was a prolific … Read more This is a stunning Original Watercolor Painting on Paper by Listed California Artist, Hendrik Grise (1914-1982). Grise was a prolific artist who was part of many of the major art movements of the mid-20th Century. He studied at the Chicago Art Institute and the Dallas Museum School of Art before coming to Southern California in the late 1940s, where he consistently exhibited his work. He was friends with several artists from the New York School, including Mark Tobey who was close to Jackson Pollock. The influences of his time are clear in his bright, fluid works.

This piece is a stunning example of his work. Done in the early-1970s, this luminous work rivals the paintings of some of the highest-regarded artists of the period. It is signed in the lower right and it has been matted in a gold-tone modern frame under glass.

Provenance and Certification: We bought the bulk of Hendrick Grise's estate in 2015. The majority of the works in our collection have never been offered for sale. We have some of the BEST works by Grise that you will ever find. Each piece comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Condition: Very good condition. Painting and frame excellent with no signs of age or damage. Purple fabric matting has some smudges - please see photos.
