This limited edition collector's Item from 1981 is the second edition with the publisher's cloth hard binding and original dust jacket. It is beautifully illustrated with large color plates throughout, and nice, heavy stock. The book and binding are in excellent condition. The dust jacket has scuffs and creases consistent with age, and a small tear on the lower right corner that has been mended with transparent tape.

Edition of the famous publication by Audubon (1785-1851), a milestone in ornithology and especially its artistic and graphic documentation, which is why Audubon is famous today primarily as a nature painter. His work first appeared in Edinburgh in 1827 and included depictions of more than 1,000 birds on 435 plates. - Roger Tory Peterson (1908-1996) followed in Audubon's tradition by ingeniously combining natural history and illustration. He studied painting and drawing at the National Academy of Design, among other institutions, and became a leading representative of the genre in the USA with his publication "Guide to the Birds," which has appeared in numerous editions since 1934.
