Avila's professional art career spanned from 1975-1995, painting in oil, acrylic, and watercolor. She became best known for her folk art and florals, but occasionally turned to the beauty of the Texas landscape that surrounded her. She lived in East Texas and was especially inspired by the passing weeks each spring when the bluebonnets bloom. I'm excited to share this painting with you as her landscapes are far less common than her florals. They being especially treasured and coveted by collectors, her landscape paintings don't become available often.

This piece captures a classic Texas Hill Country view — bluebonnets clustered at the base of an old oak tree, with cactus and rolling hills beyond. It is signed lower right and housed in a walnut-stained wood frame with linen liner, which has wonderful character and complements the scene beautifully.

This piece would style beautifully layered on a farmhouse kitchen counter, perched on a rustic console table, or incorporated into a gallery wall in a traditional or cottage-style home. Its scale makes it easy to tuck into a vignette, bringing a touch of southern charm to both modern country and classic interiors.

The painting measures 8” x 10” (sight), with framed dimensions of 17.75”W x 16”H x 2”D. Condition is excellent with no issues to the canvas. The frame shows minor wear typical of age but is sturdy and ready to hang. Age-consistent oil migration is visible on the reverse of the canvas, confirming both medium and vintage age.
