The painting was rendered in oil on a 36" x 72" canvas and measures 41" x 77" with frame.

The artist follows two dancers through a balletic sequence, underlining the classic ballet partnership. The man supports his elegant partner as she assumes attitudes on pointe with apparent ease and grace.

Both figures are solidly drawn. One senses strength and muscular tension in the lower bodies of the figures which makes possible the airy elegance of arms and neck.

The figures are both elegant and strong. They are rooted firmly on the ground. Their facial expressions are very like those one sees often in the ballet.
