A hand-carved hardwood screw, likely repurposed from an early wine press or woodworking vise, displaying characteristic wear from decades of functional use. The piece shows skilled vernacular craftsmanship in its precisely cut spiral threading, though one side of the top thread exhibits significant wear, suggesting repeated mechanical friction in its original application.

The wood surface reveals a deep, variegated patina with natural checking and subtle polish from handling. The absence of metal components indicates an all-wood construction method typical of pre-industrial tools.
