Located in the 8th arrondissement, Maxim's de Paris opened its doors in 1893 by Maxime Gaillard. Under its next owner, Eugene Cornuché, the restaurant became famous for its fine, Art Nouveau decor. The restaurant hosted celebrities such as the Duke of Windsor, Wallis Simpson, and Aristotle Onassis. In the 1970's, Brigitte Bardot caused quite the scandal when she entered the restaurant barefoot. In 2011, Maxim's was featured in Woody Allen's "Midnight in Paris" film. Today, Maxim's has opened other locations worldwide and remains an iconic brand.
