"Lights! Camera!" Lu Kimmel Illustration Art C. 1930, Oil on Canvas, 28 x 45 in. + frame
Born in Brooklyn, Lu Kimmel (1905-1973) established his career as an illustrator early on, working for some of the very same publishers as our most famous American artists like N.C. Wyeth and Norman Rockwell. His dramatic perspective and emotional engagement are classics of the American illustration style. Today his work is much sought after, although few of his paintings survive.
