Obsessed by the light and the transformations produced on the surfaces, these relief paintings are vibrant, highly textured, and have a sculptural impact which creates a powerful visual effect. The texture technique, which I developed myself, incorporates natural elements such as minerals, paper, stones, and wood with gesso, adhesive, and pigments. Each painting contains many layers of textures and pigments which in turn are enhanced with oil paint.

The gold ‘Monochrome’ series makes reference to the Yves Klein ‘Monogolds’. For him, gold represents materiality as a source of light, endowed with a principle of animation and life. Gold is the "living matter" which ensures the passage from the visible to the invisible. The ‘Monogolds’ go beyond the domain of the sensible to penetrate the more complex domain of artistic alchemy. As a matter of exchange, transmutation, and desire for the absolute, gold represents the artistic qualities that transfigure an object into a work of art. Gold, says Klein, "permeates the painting and gives it eternal life." It is the material that leads to the immaterial.
