Blue and red Tribal Medallion design Kurdish antique rug from Persia, rug , country of origin / type: Iran / Kurdish, circa 1920.
This antique Kurdish tribal rug was woven by Kurdish weavers in western Persia. Often they used a repeating design in the border, woven along in varying colored panels. The emphasis with these rugs is on their colors, and those in this early piece are very vivid and interesting. The dyes are all natural and there is lovely variation, resulting in a colorful piece with great character, and an expansive medallion design in the central field.
