GIA Comments: One (1) of numerous greenish blue stones with a client stated total weight of 0.48 carat set in a white metal ring marked "Pt950" and "0.48 D0.18" with numerous near-colorless tapered baguettes. This copper and manganese bearing tourmaline may be called "paraíba tourmaline" in the trade. The name "paraíba" comes from the Brazilian locality where this gem was first mined, however today it may come from several localities. Only one (1) greenish blue stone was tested at random. Any statement on geographic origin is an expert opinion based on a collection of observations and analytical data.
