An extraordinary historical artifact blending 19th-century craftsmanship with late 20th-century military diplomacy. This antique bronze statue, dating to circa 1830, depicts a Dutch 3rd Line Regiment officer in full uniform, complete with tall shako and musket. It was formally presented in May 1990 by Lieutenant General M.J. Wilmink, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Netherlands Army, during his official visit to the United States.
The statue stands atop a polished wooden base with a brass plaque inscribed:
“Presented by Commander-in-Chief / Chief of Army Staff
Royal Netherlands Army
Lieutenant General M.J. Wilmink
On The Occasion Of His Visit to the USA
May 1990”
Behind the statue is a heavy wooden display box featuring a gold-toned Dutch Visor Cap emblem, symbolizing rank and tradition. Though the maker is unknown, the piece exudes ceremonial gravitas and historical resonance.
Dimensions:
• Statue: 14 ¾” H × 4 ½” W × 4 ½” D
• Box: 18 ¼” H × 7 ¼” W × 6 ⅝” D
Weight:
• Statue: 8 lbs 4.7 oz
• Box: 5 lbs 0.4 oz
A compelling piece for collectors of military memorabilia, Dutch regimental history, or cross-national ceremonial gifts. Its provenance and presentation make it a standout display item with deep narrative potential.
