The rear support bar, built from layers of bent oak, is impressive in scale – perhaps something only a country with a long history of shipbuilding could manufacture to that level of precision in the 1960s. Hidden hardware connects the bar to the rear legs, suspending it within the frame.

The sofa sits low on the frame at a slight incline for a deep, loungy feel, providing the kind of comfort that suits a long conversation.

We chose a white boucle to compliment the cerused white oak frame. The frame was refinished in Danish oil to preserve the open character of the grain.

An iconic piece in meticulously restored condition, ready for another 60 years of use.

The overall depth as measured is accounted for by the curved shape. Most sofas are closer to 32-36” in depth. See less
