This is a two-door wardrobe, crafted in solid fir and dated 1841, as indicated by the inscriptions painted on the upper part of the front panels. The structure is typically Alpine, with a linear body and a molded cornice that extends laterally into a gentle chamfer, lending the piece a sense of solid elegance.
The painted decoration is the true protagonist: on a blue and natural wood background unfold stylized polychrome floral motifs, alternating with devotional symbols such as radiant flaming hearts, accompanied by floral bouquets arranged in golden vases. The side panels, as well as the front frames, echo the same vivid chromatic range, dominated by carmine red, ultramarine blue, and touches of golden yellow.
This pictorial language is characteristic of Bavarian tradition in the 19th century, where sacred and popular symbolism merged with decorative expressiveness intended to enrich the domestic environment and to safeguard not only clothing but also the family’s cherished possessions. The patina, well preserved, attests to the authenticity of the period and to the evocative strength of Alpine culture.
