The five paintings of the "Rocky Shores" series, part of the larger West Coast series, were painted one after the … Read more The five paintings of the "Rocky Shores" series, part of the larger West Coast series, were painted one after the other, all sharing multi-colored skies and waters, all paying homage to monolithic rocks, rising like sculpture out of the seas.

This is the smallest of the series, rendered on a 12" x 16" canvas, measuring 18.5" x 22.5" with heavy wooden frame.

The paintings in this series are all very "painterly" and emblematic of the post impressionist movement. Like impressionism, the artist uses thick paint, texture and vivid color. But unlike the impressionist, the post impressionist (in this case, George) focuses on shapes and design as they appear in nature, giving a subtle nod to abstraction.

We might add--like the changing colors of the sea, the colors of this painting change under different lighting (all beautiful).

These paintings are, of course, available on an individual basis. The artist is, however, agreeable to selling any of the series as a set, and as such, would reprice them accordingly.
