A fine 19th-century American walnut blanket chest, featuring a strap-hinged rectangular lid that opens to reveal a spacious interior with a lidded till. The dovetailed case sits above two dovetailed drawers fitted with brass pulls, all raised on shaped bracket feet. Secondary woods are pine and poplar, typical of the period.
The chest retains its old surface with a warm, rich walnut color and appealing natural patina. Evidence of age and use includes minor wear, scratches, and an age crack to the top, but the piece remains sturdy and functional.
