About the maker:
A. Brandt Ranch Oak furniture was a prominent line of rustic, Western-style furniture produced for nearly 50 years in Fort Worth, Texas. The company was originally founded in 1900 by German immigrant August Brandt; however, it was his son, Paul Brandt, who engineered and debuted the iconic Ranch Oak furniture line in 1938.
Known for its rugged and durable design, Ranch Oak furniture was made from solid oak and often featured a distinctive "cerused" or white-waxed finish. Early designs frequently incorporated pictorial carvings of Western motifs like horses, longhorns, and cacti. Ranch Oak gained popularity in the 1940s and 1950s as the Western style became fashionable. Its pieces were not only sought after by homeowners and ranchers but were also used to furnish military bases, national park lodges, and motels due to their durability.
The Brandt family sold the furniture company in 1986, and it went out of business shortly thereafter. Today, A. Brandt Ranch Oak furniture is highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts of mid-century Western design, cherished for its timeless appeal and solid construction.
