They feature the classic yellow and brown drip glaze. No two jugs are alike, all are unique.
Dieulefit literally means “God made it” (but maybe not in this case).

The pottery history of this small town in the Drome in South-eastern France dates back to well over two hundred years. The village potters are still using techniques that date back prior to the French revolution.
The main success has been due to the clay sourced at the local quarry of Vitrouillères, this is a unique durable material that was even sourced in Roman occupation times to make pottery.

These beautiful ceramic jugs were once used daily in French country kitchens and feature beautiful rustic glazes in yellows and browns

Condition is amazing as they have been in household use for over 100 years.
