This heavy, diamond-shaped ashtray is made of multi-layered, colored Murano glass using the renowned Sommerso technique, in which differently colored glass layers are overlaid with transparent overlay – a style particularly influenced by Flavio Poli at Seguso from the 1950s to 1970s.
The faceted shape with clear edges and vibrant layers of color – such as red, orange, yellow, or light blue – is both highly decorative and functional as a tabletop object.

Although no signature is discernible, the style is often associated with Seguso, particularly with designer Flavio Poli.
The name "Diamond" is sometimes used in the trade to describe the faceted, diamond-like shape.
