The print dates from circa 1850 and presents the Mississippi riverfront with its vibrant maritime activity, steamboats, tall ships, and bustling quayside buildings. In the background rises the distinctive architecture of the French Quarter with its towers, likely representing St. Louis Cathedral and adjacent historic structures.
