First edition of this guide to the "Austin-Caulfeild system" of lawn tennis, illustrated with 16 photographic plates, in scarce original dust jacket.
"I had gradually obtained an intimate acquaintance with every lawn tennis difficulty—technical, tactical and especially physical—that it is possible to meet. Those difficulties threatened to choke and put an end to my career. I was unable to surmount them. And then I had the good fortune to meet Captain Caulfeild. I realized at once his abilities as a coach, and I found my difficulties being gradually smoothed away" (page 3). Austin's guide lays out the "Austin-Caulfeild system," illustrated with 16 photographic plates, several double-page.
