The post material I use is solid planks at 3" thick at rough dimension I join and plane them to 2-3/4" square. I use 1-3/4" thick rails on the beds, made from Cherry. The bed shown is a Queen Size bed, with the Colonial Headboard. Finished for California with a Linseed Oil finish or a Matte or Stain, Water based Polyurethane Finish. Shown with supports for a boxspring and mattress setup. Mattress and Box Spring thickness is 12" to 18". See less
