Height: 29 cm
Mercury, mercury-plated, or silver-plated glass was very popular in the 19th century.
Imitating silverware, this technique offered a less expensive alternative for those unable to afford solid silver pieces. These pieces were called "poor man's silverware."
Their production consisted of incorporating a thin layer of mercury into the blown glass.
