The outer body is decorated … Read more This stylish two-door wardrobe was crafted around the turn of the century in former Sudetenland. The outer body is decorated with a rare beer glaze – a traditional painting technique that imitates a refined wood grain through multi-layered glaze application and targeted brushstrokes. This technique was particularly popular in rural areas where real hardwood was unavailable or too expensive, but stylish design was still valued. Its construction is classic: two large doors with coffered panels and an impressively designed cornice. The original elongated brass fittings with grape and vine leaf ornamentation are particularly beautifully crafted – a symbol of fertility and abundance, often found in the folk art of this region. Inside, the wardrobe is equipped with a sturdy hat rack and numerous individual hooks. The wardrobe shows signs of age-related wear, particularly in the original painted veneer, which, however, underscore its historical character.
