Circa 1855-1890 animalier bronze by Louis Vidal of a Stalking Lion, French. Louis Vidal, 1831-1892, was born in Nimes & died in Paris. Student of Bayre & Rouillard, exhibiting at the Salon from 1859-1892. Blind from birth, Nimes bestowed a pension for him to study in Paris. Patrons included the Rothschilds & Princess Mathilde. Gorgeous brown patination. Provenance: Whitehall Antiques, Dr. Mark Wood Collection, Dr. John Fryer Collection.
