Interesting sculpture of the Virgin represented as the Immaculate Conception, an epithet that preserves her from original sin, and therefore, … Read more Interesting sculpture of the Virgin represented as the Immaculate Conception, an epithet that preserves her from original sin, and therefore, depicted as usual on a crescent moon immersed in the clouds and with the serpent next to her. At first glance, it may seem like a wooden sculpture, but as can be seen from the small hole on the back, it is possible to note that it is hollow inside and therefore more probable, it was made of papier-mâché, by a plasticator of considerable quality during the 18th century, probably in an area pertinent to the Papal States. The sculpture is in good condition, although it has lost the superficial layer of color in some places. The height of the sculpture is 52cm. See less
