A constant symbol between inside and outside; the internal … Read more “INSIDE/OUTSIDE?” is a work that reinterprets the theme of the window. A constant symbol between inside and outside; the internal world, theater of private feelings and thoughts: a known, familiar, safe space; and the external, public world, where everything happens in the light of day: an unknown space, a place of desire and adventure, dangerous or tempting. The boundary between what is inside and what is outside is constantly shifting. The boundary between these two worlds is manifest in my work, in the stained glass window, a crossroads and focal point between inside and outside. The work, therefore, takes on various meanings: from a "view," intended to bring in the scenic beauty of the world, to a "home," conceived as a symbolic space separating the familiar from the unfamiliar, or as a symbol of a suspended and intimate moment, serving as an opening onto an external landscape. It can also become a "painting," isolating a scene, prompting the viewer to a greater or lesser degree to desire to enter the intimacy perceived behind and within the window.
