Lovely 19th Century Scenic Landscape with figures relaxing by a river.
Oil/Canvas mounted to board and uniquely 'matted' and framed.
While the origins and date of the painting itself are unknown, based on the style, this is an 1800s Landscape that would have once been affixed to a wall panel or above a doorway. It was framed c. 1910s and is as stately as it is beautiful. The “matting” is actually hand painted onto board to give the effect of paneling. The imagery is evocative of Hudson River School Paintings.
20” x 25”, no visible signature, framed, 26” x 42”.
