Born in 1945 in Paris to a Canadian father and a French mother, Nicole Michigan showed a particular interest in the visual arts from an early age. She began her career as an artist at only 12 years old, with her first professional exhibitions alongside other older (and adult) painters, demonstrating a precocious talent that would develop throughout her life!

In 1962, she entered the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts in Paris; in 1963, she entered the École de Professorat de Dessin de la Ville de Paris, which also included a program in the history of art and civilizations at the École du Louvre.

Her works feature a rich palette of colors, highlighting the play of light in the manner of a Post-Impressionist artist. This work of orange and black flowers is the epitome of her art: with only two colors and various techniques, including oil on canvas, she succeeds in bringing out various reliefs and several colors enhanced with black outlines, like a stained-glass window.

Nicole Michigan also painted the ceiling of the Sistine Church in Lesches.
