Jerome Stevens is an American painter born in Laguna, California, in May 1942. He is primarily celebrated as a highly prolific mid-century Pacific Ocean seascape artist active throughout the 1960s and 1970s
The Impressionistic Seascape: Stevens possessed a natural affinity for rendering marine subjects. He specialized in capturing the raw energy of the Pacific coast, focusing on moody, romanticized compositions of white-cap waves crashing against rocky shorelines.
Light and Texture: His signature technique blended meticulous brushwork with sharp palette knife applications. This combination allowed him to create a thick, tactile physical texture (impasto) on the canvas, realistically emulating the crest of sea foam and the translucent quality of water catching direct sunlight
