This ceramic head, measuring 41 × 36 × 32 cm, embodies the raw and organic qualities of the series, where each variation arises from chance reactions in the firing process. The bismuth glaze generates unpredictable textures and tonalities across the surface, highlighting the rough modelling of the human face. The work demonstrates a tension between individuality and collectivity: while each ceramic head is unique, their similarities reinforce the idea of the human condition as both singular and shared. Part of the Testas series, these ceramic heads are conceived through direct, almost automatic modelling, embracing imperfection and the beauty of error. Their expressive surfaces reflect a dialogue between material, fire, and the artist’s gesture, offering powerful visual presence.
