Created in refractory stoneware, … Read more Testa 6 is a contemporary expressionist ceramic head from the ongoing Testas series of sculptural heads. Created in refractory stoneware, the piece is fired in reduction and subsequently repaired using kintsugi, the Japanese technique of joining with gold. This process highlights the cracks and fissures of the ceramic head, integrating them into the work’s visual and material presence. The Testas series approaches the human head as a central theme in sculpture. Each expressionist head is shaped directly and spontaneously, resulting in organic variations that emphasize the unpredictability of ceramic processes. Surfaces remain raw and textured, bearing the marks of firing, glaze reactions, and the intentional acceptance of chance. In this way, the series reflects on individuality and collectivity: while each ceramic head is unique, together they form a cohesive body of work. Testa 6 measures 44 × 27 × 23 cm, weighs 5 kg, and is shipped in a custom wooden crate (47 × 30 × 30 cm, 6 kg). This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
