This French designed Aubusson-style tapestry was manufactured by Jean Laurent in 1979 using Jacquard looms and wool.
It features a faithful reproduction of the medieval tapestry Les Vendanges from the Cluny Museum, illustrating the grape harvest and winemaking process.
Richly colored and finely detailed, the tapestry depicts scenes of harvest and grape pressing with figures from both noble and peasant classes. A rare and decorative work that brings historic charm and craftsmanship.
Origination: France, 1970s. Purchased from private collection, Switzerland.
Condition: Very good overall. Tapestry has been professionally cleaned.
