Evocative and dreamlike, this 1955 work reflects Giovanni Battista de Salvo’s experimental spirit.
The title “The Oddities of the Old Countess” hints at the enigmatic nature of the subject: a barely outlined female figure, immersed in a rarefied and visionary composition. The forms merge with the background through a fluid and branching ink technique, evoking an aesthetic of the unconscious and metamorphosis.
