A pair of original optima 1 wall lamps, designed by hans due for fog & mørup, denmark, in the 1970s. Hans due created the optima lamp series in 1972, which became one of fog & mørup’s most celebrated lighting lines. He later went on to design the phister lamp and the formel lamp series, solidifying his reputation as a leading figure in danish modern lighting design.
each lamp features a disc-shaped spun metal shade in chocolate brown, one of three original finishes offered in the series (alongside yellow ochre and white). A lamp retains it's original fog & mørup label and are fitted with cords and inline switches, allowing for plug-in use.
the optima collection was produced in a range of forms:
optima 1 – wall lamp (as offered here)
optima 2 – table lamp
optima 3 – single-spot floor lamp
optima 4 – twin-spot floor lamp
optima 5–7 – pendant lamps in varying diameters
with their timeless form and glare-free illumination, these wall lamps work beautifully as bedside lights, hallway sconces, or mounted as a decorative pair in living spaces. They are striking both lit and unlit, functioning equally as light sources and as design objects.
