A Charming 19th-Century Watercolour of Coursing Greyhounds or Lurchers
Framed, glazed, and signed in pencil.
This beautifully executed sporting watercolour captures a dynamic scene of two sighthounds in full chase of a hare, with riders on horseback approaching a gathering of gentlemen and their racing dogs in the distance.
Coursing was a hugely popular country sport in the 19th century, and this artwork reflects the energy and tradition of the time. The piece is attractively presented in an antique giltwood and gesso frame, protected under glass.
Framed dimensions: 36cm x 30cm
Condition:
Overall in good condition for its age. Some minor discolouration and foxing to the paper, as is often typical with antique works. The frame shows small chips and areas of loss in places, consistent with age. This piece has an attribution mark,
I am sure that it is completely authentic and take full responsibility for any authenticity
