From my Acrylic Sketches on Paper Series. A richly hued scene at Olympic NP, with washes of color serving as the foundation, then addition of sky, water, rock, and shadow.
In an effort to be more efficient, I’ve added these sketches to my week. Hoping to complete more paintings and focus on shapes and shadows rather than fine details. I really love how this turned out.
Washington State is where my mother grew up. My grandparents in West Seattle passed 25+ years ago so unfortunately, I don’t get to visit Seattle often. But the Pacific Northwest is in my blood. My people there were loggers and fisherman. And my grandma, Florence, was fancy. She wore a boa to the taverns and was frequently married and divorced. She had a wicked sense of humor and was in my thoughts as I put paint to paper for this composition.
This piece would look stellar wherever room it finds a home in….
