This painting was inspired by a return trip to the West Coast in 1990. Driving up from San Francisco to Marin County, the artist was struck by the same glowing hills that had so impressed him a short three years ago. Stopping the car every five minutes to absorb the view (much to the annoyance of his wife) he marveled at the "design" of the landscape.

George's work is intentionally representational, but here the painting, focusing on pattern and shape might be said to bridge the gap between the traditional and the abstract.

Pigments are heavily saturated. Brightest warm tones and coolest darks. Paint is heavily applied in the impressionist manner, revealing every brush stroke.

Though a mid-size painting, a 24" x 30" canvas - 28" x 34" with frame, this painting is a focal point in any room.

Here we show it in the studio and on a residential wall so as to display the painting in different light.
