A beautiful painting depicting a sea view with a church and houses in the background, and two boats depicted at … Read more A beautiful painting depicting a sea view with a church and houses in the background, and two boats depicted at the bottom, characteristic of the Neapolitan Riviera, in our opinion, with their round dome and nearby obelisk. It is a glimpse of the Gulf of Pozzuoli. The painting is extremely textured, with a style reminiscent of Neo-Impressionism, painted largely with a palette knife. Painted with very bold colors, we can see how the uniform blue of the sky contrasts with the buildings, which are instead painted in various colors, ranging from white, to light and dark gray, to black, brown, and reddish. The same applies to the boats in the foreground. The painting has excellent depth, featuring the two boats in the foreground, the sea separating them from the buildings, which appear far away from the boats, and the full blue sky painted in such a way as to create a truly profound effect. Dating to the 1960s or 1970s, the painting features a beautiful patina on both the front and back, confirming our dating. The painting is unframed, medium-large in size, and features a signature at the bottom left that we unfortunately couldn't decipher. There's also another signature on the back, along with a further inscription, but we couldn't determine the artist's identity. A high-quality painting, it is undoubtedly the work of a talented artist, both in terms of the truly pleasing color scheme and the depth of the landscape depicted. See less
