This cabinet is simple in design but is beautifully painted with floral decorations on the panels, the rest of the cabinet is finished with a decorative wood motif. Above the doors is painted the previous owner's wedding date and initials. This specimen is still in neat condition for its age, other than a few old woodworm marks (which have obviously been treated) there is little to note. The inside has three shelves. The cabinet still has the original working lock with key. It used to be customary to give wedding furniture like this as a gift to the couple at a wedding. This furniture was afterwards placed on the farm in a showroom that was only rarely used for high visits or special occasions. So a beautiful and decorative piece of history. This specimen is from southern Germany (Franconia). 187cm high, 142cm wide, 54cm deep. See less
