This is a stunning and unique sterling silver cold meat serving fork in Whiting's Roses and Scrolls pattern. This antique piece was made in the late 1800s and has an elegant, art nouveau floral pattern on the handle with a scalloped bowl. The handle features beautifully detailed blossoms in classic Art Nouveau style. It is solid sterling silver, .925. There is a monogram of "M" on the handle.
The fork measures 8" long and weighs roughly 68 grams. The fork head is 3" long and 1.75" long. The fork is marked "Sterling" with the Whiting Manufacturing maker's mark of a lion with a W, as shown. This maker's mark was used by Whiting before it became part of Gorham. This style was discontinued sometime in the late 1890s and is very hard to find.
The fork is in excellent vintage condition and has minor marks from use but no dents or major scratches. Please see the photos for details of the condition.
