Map and coastal view of the islands within the Queen Charlotte's Islands (Santa Cruz Islands, Solomon Islands) by Phillip Carteret, July-August 1767 on the Swallow. The first European to Nukutavake was Englishman Samuel Wallis in 1767. He named it Queen Charlotte Island (French/ Reine Charlotte). This map originates from the French edition of 'An Account of the Voyages Undertaken by the Order of His Present Majesty for Making Discoveries in the Southern Hemisphere' by John Hawkesworth.
