1968 “cross oyster” wall sculpture lights by rolf krüger for staff leuchten — set of two rare set of two award-winning “cross oyster” light panels by rolf krüger for staff leuchten, germany, 1968. Sculptural copper-and-white wall or ceiling fixtures that double as striking mid-century wall art. Very good vintage condition, rewired. Designed in 1968 by rolf krüger for staff leuchten, the cross oyster is both a lighting fixture and a piece of sculptural wall art. This offering includes two matching panels, sold only as a set—an exceptionally rare find that merges functional lighting with gallery-worthy design. Each piece features a copper cross motif set against a white lacquered metal backdrop, with curved cut-outs that diffuse the light in a warm, ambient glow. The interplay of polished copper and crisp white surfaces creates depth and a bold graphic statement. Measuring an impressive 62 cm x 62 cm (24.4” x 24.4”), these panels command attention whether illuminated or unlit. Awarded the prestigious if design award in 1968, the cross oyster was celebrated for its futuristic geometry, exceptional craftsmanship, and enduring elegance. Mounted on the wall, they read as abstract modernist reliefs; mounted on the ceiling, they function as dramatic focal points of a space. Condition: both lights are in very good vintage condition with only minor, age-appropriate wear. They have been professionally rewired for immediate use while preserving all original design elements.
